My friend Jakob just got back from a Motorcycle trip to Oman with his friend Mats and they were kind enough to share their photos and some words about their adventures on DERESTRICTED. Some gems in here, so dig in!:
Such an incredible country for those who are seeking vast landscapes and adventure. Oman is almost the size of Germany but with only a population 2,7mil people.
It´s a privilege to discover this scenically rich country with its pure wadis, empty beaches, endless deserts and rough mountains – especially if your choice of transportation is an enduro bike.
Shipping 4 bikes (KTM 950 ADVENTURE S, KTM640 ADVENTURE, KTM690 ENDURO with RALLY conversion, BMW1200GS with 21”,18” WHEEL CONVERSION) from Germany to Oman with einfach losfahren Offroad und Motorbike Travel, Oman, Tunesien, Mongolei, Marokko, Albanien, Gelndewagen Reisen, Motorradreisen, Omanreisen (http://www.einfach-losfahren.de/) (excellent service) the trip started on December 26th 2013 in the capital Muscat.
The journey took us all across the whole country down to the very south – Salala. Most of it was Off Road experiencing the steep dirt roads of the Al Hajar Mountains, the wet wadis and the open sandy desserts Wahiba Sands and parts of the Rub al-Chali. Total distance of the round trip is about 4250km. It is a true Off Road paradise with very little restrictions.
Winter Temperature is very enjoyable having temperatures ranging from 19-26°C. And the best thing about Oman: Omani people are very friendly and helpful. Gives you a delightful contrast to Austria!

Αααα μην ξεγελιέστε ρε παιδιά .....Στα Τζουμέρκα είναι οι περισσότερες και στην παράλια του Κορινου Πιερίας...Τώρα οσο για τα παιδάκια που ειναι σκαρφαλωμένα στο Γκαντεμ εεε απο τα φανάρια θα τα πήραν..:lo20::lo20:

Πέρισυ τέτοια εποχή ήμουν εκει στο Ομάν. Απίστευτη ομορφιά! Μετα το στενο του Ορμουζ φεύγοντας απο τα Εμιράτα,η ακτογραμμή γίνετε βραχώδης και γεμάτη φιόρδ. Το ψηλότερο φουνο του Ομάν αν θυμάμαι στον ναυτικό χάρτη έλεγε 1950 μέτρα και σε ερώτηση και κουβέντα με τους ντόπιους,αστειεύονται λέγοντας πως εκει πάνω κάνει κρυο! Τωρα σε γνωριμία που ειχα με τον Έλληνα παρακαλώ πρόεδρο του Ducati club και τον έτερο Έλληνα φιλο του χαρλεα μου ειπαν πως οι βόλτες τους είναι στα βουνα του Ομάν.

Στάλθηκε απο μένα βρε!!

Παιδιά όπως φαίνεται αυτοί δεν το κάνουν πρώτη φορά. Είναι για αυτούς το παιχνιδάκι τους. Οτι κάνουμε εμείς στην Ανάβυσο μια Κυριακή πρωί, αυτοί το κάνουν στους δικούς τους αμόλοφους.Σιγά την διαφορά:u58:

Oman Offroad 2011

This was a Off road trip with my friend. and our KTM's.
no backup car or anything else, just pure off road fun and camping. the longest distance we have covered from gas station to gas station was 560km. The KTM 950 Adventure had a battery cable and coming loose and a damaged Ignition Lock (sand). The 640 Adventure had a broken sub frame, and the same issue with the ignition lock and battery cable. No flat tires at all, never run out of fuel. Gps did work very well and my self made Garmin map was much better then expected. In sand we agreed that the 950 works better because of the extra power, yes even in dunes. In windy mountain roads the 640 Adventure would be the better choice. Fuel range on the 640 is a clear advantage. A steering damper on the 950 is highly recommended when going off road and especially on sand with deep tracks.
