Η Beyonce, η Lady GaGa & οι Green Day, ήταν οι οι μεγάλοι νικητές των 2009 MTV Video Music Awards που πραγματοποιήθηκαν στη Νέα Υόρκη, καθώς απέσπασαν από τρία βραβεία ο καθένας.

Η Beyonce επικράτησε στις κατηγορίες Video of the year, Best Choreography και Best Editing για το “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” ενώ η Lady GaGa έφυγε από τη λαμπερή βραδιά έχοντας κερδίσει το βραβείο Best New Artist για το “Poker Face” καθώς και τα βραβεία Best Art Direction και Best Special Effects για το φρέσκο hit της “Paparazzi”.
Όσο αφορά τους Green Day αναδείχθηκαν νικητές στις κατηγορίες Best Rock Video, Best Cinematography και Best Direction για το “21 Guns”. Από εκεί και πέρα, η Britney Spears πρόσθεσε στη συλλογή της ένα ακόμα βραβείο, εκείνο του Best Pop Video για το “Womanizer”. Νικητής στην κατηγορία Best Male Video αναδείχθηκε ο T.I. για το “Live Your Life”, στο οποίο συμμετέχει και η Rihanna ενώ το βραβείο Best Hip – Hop Video κέρδισε ο Eminem για το “We Made You”. Τέλος, η Taylor Swift απέσπασε το βραβείο Best Female Video για το “You Belong With Me”.
