HELSINKI, Aug 18 (Reuters) -
Austria opposes Finland's deal with Greece on collateral for loans and will demand the same if euro zone countries approve Finland's deal, a spokesman from Austrian finance ministry was quoted as saying on Thursday.
"The collateral model has to be open to all the euro zone countries. We will figure out if that's the case," Harald Waiglein from the finance ministry told Finland's biggest newspaper Helsingin Sanomat in a phone interview.
Waiglein said the deal between Finland and Greece, reached earlier this week, makes no sense since other countries would in fact have to pay for the collateral. He added that according to their knowledge, Austria is not the only euro member with this stance.
"Since Greece can't afford the collateral, EU must help. In fact the payers are other member countries. We can't see how that could be justified," he said according to the paper.
Finland and Greece have agreed that Greece would make a cash deposit to Finland, which would be invested. The size of the collateral was still unclear, but with the interest it would compare to the Finnish part of the loan which Greece gets from Europe's temporary bailout fund, Finland said on Tuesday.
The euro countries will discuss Finland's deal on Thursday and Friday. Austria now looks for a mechanism where some countries would get more collateral than others.
"Some countries will benefit quite nicely from the private sector collateral. Maybe we could find a model where these countries would get less (public) collateral," Waiglein was quoted as saying in Helsingin Sanomat.
Loan collateral are key condition for Finland in joining to help Greece or other debt-burdened countries.

Είμαι περίεργος να ακούσω τι θα μας πουν οι αλήτες για τις συμφωνίες που κάνουν!
Είναι η αρχή του τέλους κύριοι.
Καλά θα κάνουμε να αρχίσουμε να ετοιμαζόμαστε για επιστροφή στη δραχμή. το πότε...... όταν θα είναι έτοιμοι οι "φίλοι" μας.
Σε λίγες μέρες θα αρχίσουν πάλι τα "παιχνίδια" για την 6η δόση. Οι ####κες που υποτίθεται μας κυβερνούν θα μας λένε για την υπέρτατη ανάγκη συναίνεσης στα μέτρα που αναπόφευκτα θα πρέπει να πάρουν, απλά διότι τα μέχρι τώρα απλά μας βουλιάζουν. Ο μπακάλης που τελείωσε την 1η δημοτικού κατάλαβε αμέσως το αποτέλεσμα των μέτρων που ο αντιπαθητικός υπάλληλος της παγκόσμιας τράπεζας και πρώην ΥπΟικ μας "πούλησε" ως σωτήρια!
Κακό ψόφο να έχουν οι αλήτες προδότες! Το λέω και στην υπογραφή μου! Αι σιχτίρ!
