In 2007, BMW sold 4,284 police motorcycles worldwide.[15] BMW produces factory built police-specific models such as the R1200RT-P and R900RT-P. More than 225 U.S. law enforcement agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, have BMW authority motorcycles in their fleets of patrol vehicles.[16] The BMW bikes are lighter and have better handling and braking than Harley Davidson models.
